The event "Following the Paths of a Visionary from Užpaliai Parish" has taken place!
On June 29, a cultural and natural tourism hike "On the Trails of the Visionary from Užpaliai Parish" was held, dedicated to the 132nd anniversary of the birth of the famous geographer, traveler, and public figure Kazys Pakštas.
The participants covered an approximately 10 km route from Alinauka to Užpaliai Manor, admired the natural scenery of Aukštaitija, and remembered the visions and ideas of Kazys Pakštas. The day was crowned by a festive afternoon at Užpaliai Manor together with representatives of the Lithuanian Geographic Society, discussions about travels, missions, and the legacy of Kazys Pakštas.
During the event, the President of the Lithuanian Geographical Society, Danielius Jurčiukonis, delivered a speech “Kazys Pakštas and the continuation of his activities in the Lithuanian Geographical Society”, in which he revealed how the ideas of this outstanding visionary are still relevant today. The former long-time president of the society, geographer, traveler, and Kazys Pakštas Medal laureate, Genovaitė Kynė, also shared her impressions.
We would like to thank the hike guide Giedris Indrašius, all participants, partners and those who contributed to the organization of the event.
Thank you to everyone who was there – may this day be an inspiration for new discoveries in nature, history, and togetherness!
