Utena celebrated its 764th birthday

On August 28–30, Utena was rocked by the celebration of the city's 764th birthday ! For three days, the city was bustling with music, sports, and fellowship, and the abundance of impressions will undoubtedly accompany the participants and guests of the celebration for a long time.

The celebration began with the " Youth Day ", the highlight of which was the festival "Ant paletės". Youth groups from all over Lithuania donated their music and energy, and the good mood was added by the performance of comedian Tomašas Rinkėvičius.

The second day of the festival turned into a real " City Picnic " fiesta - visitors enjoyed culinary dishes, listened to a concert by Jurga Šeduikytė, and the culmination of the evening was a performance by the band "Antikvarianiai Kašpirovskio dantys".

The main day of the festival was the most exciting, when a craft and food fair was held in the center of Utena, sports tournaments, a theatrical procession, neighborhood courtyards and greetings from foreign guests took place. Visitors could get acquainted with the culinary and cultural heritage of the Utena region, participate in various entertainments, and fans of culinary records were delighted by the baking of as many as 3,000 pancakes and an impressive pancake sculpture. The festive mood was completed by bright evening concerts - Linas Adomaitis, Džordana Butkutė, Natalija Bunkė and DJ Jovani appeared on stage, accompanied by an impressive laser show.

Utena Tourist Information Centre also actively contributed to the city festival programme. On the main day, 30 August, festival guests were invited to the TIC space near the Creative Industries Centre “Taurapilis”. Here, visitors took part in a specially prepared game “UTENON Jenga”, which helped them get to know Utena’s attractions, entertainment and famous people better. Fun experiences and sweet prizes awaited the players. Tourist guides, maps and festival programmes were also distributed so that each guest could find their way to the most interesting events.

We would like to thank everyone who visited our space, participated in the game, and created a festive atmosphere together. Thanks to you, this celebration became even more impressive, and travelers who came to Utena took away not only fun memories, but also the best experiences from our region.
