World Tourism Day in Utena – a journey into the world of Pranas Daunis

World Tourism Day in Utena – a journey into the world of Pranas Daunis!

On September 27, 2025, World Tourism Day was celebrated in Utena. This year, it invited people to embark on a meaningful journey through the bright life and legacy of Pranas Daunis (1900–1962). He was a volunteer in the Lithuanian army, a writer, a pianist, the author of the adaptation of the Braille alphabet to the Lithuanian language, and a pioneer of organized activities for the blind in Lithuania.

During the tour, the participants visited a memorial plaque in the churchyard of Kuktiškės Church, stopped at the birthplace of Pranas Daunis in the village of Paneveržys, visited the A. Deveikis and L. Misevičius Kuliešius book shelter, and the Tomas Kleinis second-hand exhibition in Kuktiškės.

The evening was crowned by the touching performance "Beacon of Darkness" at the Utena Chamber Theatre (directed by Šarūnas Kunickas) - a story about Pranas Daunis, in which love, struggle, and strength of spirit intertwine.

The day was full of history, fellowship, and inspiring moments. Thank you to everyone who came along!
